Duty Free Americas, Generation 3

Duty Free America’s first store at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport presented unique design restrictions that produced what has become a third generation of stores. Stepping away from the previous generation’s white facades, these stores aim to differentiate from the surrounding airport by using black granite facades combined with various infills that are dictated by regional influences. In San Diego, a backlit blue glass wall and colorful, waving mosaic at the entry recall the ocean, while in Dulles, the granite facade is reminiscent of monuments throughout the city. On the stores interiors, there is an emphasis on more distinct departments and higher quality LED lighting.
