Detroit- ASL was asked to push the bounds on what a retail space in the Detroit Airport could be. The design capitalized on the manufacturing might of Detroit by using a series of ceiling fins that are produced from similar CNC techniques that are used in the the production of automotive components. The fins were used to highlight the entry as they curved down from the ceiling and became a video wall feature at the entrance.

Philadelphia-The open ceiling and towering space above this retail area led ASL to design a flowing metal mesh drape that wrapped an existing column, and also became a color changing beacon to attract potential customers from further down the the concourse.

Los Angeles – As the most comprehensive proposal ASL has done to date, the response to LAX included the design of over 20 spaces. In addition to developing an overall design concept based around a film reel for the duty free stores in terminals 1-8, ASL was also charged with adapting a façade designed by local architect, Marmol Radziner, to a ninth, featured store in the new Tom Bradley International Terminal. Also in the TBIT, ASL developed concepts for a premium duty free liquor store, a luxury watch boutique, and Moet Hennessy’s first US location. To round out the project, ASL also did preliminary layouts for Salvatore Ferragamo, Burberry, Bulgari, Coach, Armani, Mont Blanc, Kiehl’s, Victoria’s Secret, and The Body Shop. ASL developed renderings and plans for each space, and, when invited to present, also created a complete 3d walkthrough of the new international terminal spaces.

Chicago- Based on the streaks left from a time lapse photograph of Chicago’s Dan Ryan Expressway, ASL developed a concept that used a series of light bands that strung various stores together through the curving concourse.
